Captain John McCrae was born in Guelph Canada on the 30th of November 1872. He had 2 siblings Thomas and Geills McCrae.
When he was boy he was interested in the army and the military. He joined the Highfield Cadet Corps at the age 14.
He started writing at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute. He also studied at the University of Toronto although he could only carry on for 3 years to do with his bad asthma, unfortunately this carried on through out his life.
Through his year off he met a girl and fell in love with her unfortunately she died shortly after they met. He wrote down his pain through poetry.
